Our purpose is to move the world with sustainable mobility

Our commitment to sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy. As part of LKQ, we focus not only on the climate and our impact on the environment, but also on the development of the people, society, and communities in which we work and live. Our sustainability strategy reflects this commitment.

As part of a large company, we have a great responsibility to act honestly and ethically. That is why transparency, fairness, and reliability are our top priorities.
We are continuously working on measures to help protect the environment and conserve resources.
We respect all the people who work with us equally in their individuality. We empower them in their joint work and support them in achieving their goals.

Our Three-Pillar Sustainability Strategy

We follow three main principles to achieve our sustainability goals and create a better future for both people and the planet:

Profitably Delivering Sustainable Solutions

• Our operations are designed to drive value while protecting the environment. In 2024, LKQ processed more than 735,000 vehicles and sold nearly 12 million individual salvaged parts back into the circular economy.
• We aim to cut greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 30% by 2030 (compared to 2022 levels). Already, we’ve cut them by 16% in 2024 by using more renewable energy, improving fleet fuel efficiency, and streamlining our operations.
• Nearly 100% of our DACH division’s locations now use certified green electricity, and solar installations are continually expanding.

People-led performance

• Our diverse and inclusive teams are the heart of our sustainability journey. We foster a culture of engagement, safety, and development.
• Initiatives like the Women’s Network and training programs empower employees to thrive in every aspect of their roles.

Strong governance and ethical practices

• Sustainability at LKQ is also about robust citizenship and ethical conduct. Each year, we contribute more than $4 million through the LKQ Community Foundation to causes in health, wellness, education, veterans’ support, and environmental stewardship.
• Nearly every team member completes annual ethics training, ensuring responsible conduct at every level.

LKQ DACH energy management system

Stahlgruber GmbH and PV Automotive GmbH are required to implement an energy management system \"(EMS\") due to their total energy consumption. We have decided to undergo DIN ISO 50001 certification. DIN ISO 50001 is an international standard for energy management systems. ISO 50001 shows our customers, employees, and stakeholders that we systematically manage our energy efficiency, thereby demonstrating our responsibility towards the environment. An energy management system can reduce energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and costs.

We have been DIN ISO 50001 certified since mid-July 2025!
